Food Update

Further to us looking into changing the contents of our meals we are still undecided upon our decision. To change to organic would be problematic as we believe by buying local fresh products and preparing on site our food is of a high standard so this is a decision not to be taken without consultation.

We do still have our fruit and vegetables supplied by a local fresh supplier and we are looking to change our milk to organic. Again, if you have any suggestions or comments on this subject please see
Faye or Gemma.

Congratulations

We would like to say a big congratulations to Sam Green. Sam has just achieved her NVQ 2 qualification and has accepted a permanent position, working in the caterpillars room. Well done Sam!

Calpol

St Patricks Day

On Monday 17th March we will celebrate St Patricks Day by eating a traditional Irish Lunch and wearing Green for the day.

Vouchers to Collect

We are collecting various tokens to help towards new equipment. Please donate any Tesco for schools, Sainsbury's Active Kids or Nestle Box tops to Bumblebees.

Collection boxes are in the front entrance. We can also recycle old Mobile phones and Ink Jet cartridges to collect Tesco points.

Red Nose Day

We will be holding Fun and Games on Friday 13th March to raise funds for Comic Relief.
If your child attends that day they can join us in wearing red. ideally head to toe!!!
Each room will be holding separate events and they will inform you of these
when details are fi nally confi rmed.

Slippers

Please can everyone remember to change their children‛s footwear to their slippers at the start of the session. It would also be helpful if you could place their footwear straight into their bag as shoes are not needed during the day.

The children wear slippers indoors and Wellies outdoors. You may need to check if your child needs either of these. Just be warned that last year some parents found it difficult to buy slippers in the warmer months so you may want to think about getting the next size up soon!!!

New Menus

Following a suggestion from one of our parents to go organic we are currently doing some research into the ingredients and contents in all our meals. Although at present it is not feasible to go completely organic due to the availability and costs we are looking into alternatives. More information on this will follow in the next newsletter. If you have any questions or any information about
organic produce please speak to Faye.

Main Garden

You may have noticed that the main garden grass area is fenced off. Unfortunately the new drainage system that has been put in because of our previous problems with flooding is not working and as a result we have a flooded garden.

Acer Landscaping the contractors are trying to solve the issue and have to return in the dry weather to take up the grass again and investigate the problem. Hopefully the grass will be back in action soon and the whole garden can will be in full use again.

Sensory Garden

Last month we mentioned Maggie had applied for a grant to develop part of the garden into a sensory area. Maggie has managed to secure this for us and work has been carried out by some of the team recently so the garden is now up and running.

Well done to Maggie and a big thank you to those of the team that helped out, as well as Gemma‛s Mum and Dad and Carly‛s Mum!. Everyone has done a great job and I‛m sure all the children will benefit from this new area.

Country of the Month

Following on from last months Chinese day Pre-school will be holding Norwegian Day on
Friday 20th February. Please could your child wear blue (Norwegian Flag).

The Bees Room will be celebrating France throughout the month holding a French Day on
Monday 16th February. Sam will send out additional information for this.

Chinese New Year

On Monday 26th January we will be celebrating Chinese New Year. We will have traditional Chinese meals and we are asking you to send your child in wearing something Red. This will be the fi rst of our monthly Multicultural days…we will keep you posted for February‛s theme!!!

Tea Towels

Menu Changes

Garden Area

I am sure you have all noticed, we have had new fencing put up at the far side of the building, this has extended our garden area and will eventually be developed into a sensory garden. Maggie has helped to put together a funding bid which will help develop the area even further, so fi ngers crossed we are successful!!!

In December we had our Christmas Raffle. We would like to say a big thank you to everybody that bought raffle tickets or tickets for the Pre-school play. We managed to raise £311 to put towards a wooden play house for all of the children to enjoy in the garden.

Parents Suggestions

Christmas Parties

You will receive information from your room leader about the Christmas party your child will be invited to as each room is having separate celebrations. Please speak to a member of staff if you have not received information yet. We are asking parents to provide some party food, if you wish to do this please see the list in your childs room for items that are needed.

Christmas Raffle

We will be drawing the raffl e on Friday 19th December so please can we have all tickets and money in to us by then. If you require extra tickets please see a member of staff. Prizes include a hamper, wine, chocolates, soft toy and lots more!!! All money raised will go towards a wooden play house for the garden.

Children in Need

Another big thank you to everyone who donated money for Children in Need. We managed to raise £189.07 by wearing P.Js and selling cakes and buns.

Shoe Box Appeal

Children in Need
